Valdespino is one of the oldest wineries in Jerez. The first member of the Valdespino family who started to cultivate the vines and age the Sherry wines was Mr Alfonso Valdespino, in the 13th century. Valdespino is a reference of the ageing of Sherry wines, known for their traditional methods in the production processes of their wines. All the grapes used to produce the Valdespino cru wines come from the farm Macharnudo Alto, located around 5 km from the north-east of Jerez, at 135 metres above sea level, planted on "albariza" soils, which are typical of the area. The "albariza" are white calcareous soils that retain the water very well. Valdespino Palo Cortado Viejo CP VOS is a wine made from Palomino Fino from the renown farm Pago Macharnudo Alto, with vines that are 20 years old.

If your just going in to pick up a 12 pack it's not the best or quickest location. But if you want to get blown away by selection and atmosphere go on in. Plenty of 'staff' around. I saw items I've never seen before in my 48 yrs of going into bars,liquor stores and distillery tours!!! Definitely not the Kentucky I grew up in !!
