Worth The Light: AVO XO Notturno

Mon, Feb 16, 2026

It’s easy to chase what’s new. Limited drops. Fresh releases. The cigar everyone’s talking about this week. And somewhere along the way, really good cigars get left behind—not because they aren’t great, but because our palates evolve and our attention shifts. That’s exactly why I reached back for the AVO XO Notturno. From the first touch, you’re reminded how well this cigar is made. The dry draw is effortless, offering light notes of English Breakfast tea, autumn leaves, and fresh hay. Once lit, the draw is completely carefree, producing a rich, easy plume of smoke. The opening flavors are refined and composed—classic cedar with a gentle sweetness riding alongside it. It’s subtle, but deliberate.

As the first third winds down, the cigar begins to stretch its legs. The cedar deepens. Roasted Brazilian nut notes start to emerge. The body moves from light toward light-medium with confidence. A soft leather character develops, layered with warm tea and a faint, smoky sweetness that gives the profile quiet complexity without ever becoming heavy.

By the final third, the flavors are fuller and more expressive. Sweet cedar leads the charge, backed by baking spice and strong black tea. It never tips into overpowering territory—just richer, more focused, more complete.

I burned my fingers on this one.

The AVO XO Notturno doesn’t require a special occasion. It’s equally at home on a quiet evening with a strong cup of coffee as it is paired with your favorite pour of brown water. Light-to-medium in body but layered in character, it’s a reminder that sometimes revisiting an old favorite delivers more satisfaction than chasing the next big thing. If it’s been a while since you’ve smoked one, this might be your sign to light it again.
