Merchants Mixes: Eggnog

It’s not the Holidays without a glass or two of Eggnog. We love to spike ours with Bourbon, Rum, Cognac, or even Tequila! And this week, while it lasts, we’re serving our Traditional ‘Nog that’s made in house! It’s rich, creamy, and generously spiced and guaranteed to get you into the Holiday Spirit!

Merchants Club Eggnog

  • 10 Egg Yolks
  • 1/2 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 4 cups 1% Milk
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 tsp Vanilla 12 Cloves
  • 2 inch piece of Ginger
  • Pinch of Salt
In a pot over low heat, combine Cream, Milk, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cloves, and Salt. Let simmer, stirring often. Let simmer for 20-30 minutes.

In a bowl, whisk together Yolks, Brown Sugar, and Maple Syrup.

Slowly stream, a little at a time, the Milk Mixture into the Egg/Sugar mixture, whisking the entire time. Once about half the milk mixture is incorporated, pour back into the pot.

Over low heat, stirring often allow mixture to reach 160 degrees. Remove from heat, and stir in Vanilla. Cover and let infuse 1-2 hours.

Pour through a fine mesh strainer. Store sealed in the refrigerator.

To Serve - Add 1.5 oz of aged Rum/Tequila/Cognac/Bourbon to a glass (with or without ice). Add 2.5 oz Nog and garnish with fresh ground Nutmeg.
