One of the most exciting times of the year is here - Beaujolais Nouveau Day! Beaujolais lies just south of Burgundy and north of Lyon. The wine-growing region of Beaujolais is best known for Gamay, the region's most planted grape. These wines are light, bright, and one of the most food-friendly red wines on the planet. A great wine to accompany your Thanksgiving and Holiday meals. Not only is the wine amazing, but the way in which it is released makes this wine fun. The Union Interprofessionnelle de Vins du Beaujolais decided that each year's release of Beaujolais Noveau, which is a wine that was made from harvested grapes earlier in the year, couldn't be sold until Beaujolais Nouveau Day, which is November 16th. The declaration of "Le nouveau est arrive" signals the ability to purchase this year's harvest of Beaujolais Nouveau.
