Straight Bourbon

Straight Bourbon is a classification that is made from 51% corn and does not exceed 160 proof, aged in new charred oak barrels for a minimum of two years and does not enter the barrel above 125 proof. Modifications that can be made prior to bottling consist of batching and proofing. Batching Bourbons is the mixing of several barrels of Bourbon, which can be from different distilleries, but only Bourbons coming from in the same state and proofed to no less than 80 proof. Any Straight Whiskey that is aged less than four years must be labeled with an age statement and that statement must list the youngest whiskey in the batch.
